Step 1: Get the necessary installation tools
To install a Nest Hello video doorbell, you will need the following tools:
- Phillips screwdriver
- pen or pencil
- power drill
- Phillips bit
- long drill bit for wood or stone

To use the Nest Hello video doorbell, you will need to purchase an indoor power adapter. There are a number of adapters available online, but the one we recommend is the Ohmkat adapter. The installation process is simple and plug-and-play.
Step 3: Turn off the power supply
When preparing to install a Nest Hello, turn off the power to your existing doorbell and leave it off until the installation is complete.
Step 4: Install the Nest Hello app on your Mobile device
To install the Nest Hello app on an Android or iOS device, first download them from either Playstore or Appstore, sign up for an account and then slide in your camera against the wall plate. Once installed, switch on the audio recording to allow access to choose the language for the doorbell to speak to guests and visitors.
Step 5: Install Nest Hello wall plate
To install the Nest Hello wall plate, use a level to check that it is straight and mark the drill holes. Drill pilot holes for screws using a 3/32-inch (2 mm) drill bit. Install the wall plate with screws and ensure it is right side up and the horizontal screw hole is at the bottom. Mount the wall plate with screws
Step 6: Pass the power cable through the wall
After you have installed the Nest Hello doorbell, you need to pass the power adapter’s cable through the wall. First, remove the adhesive backing on the plate and attach it to your doorframe. Next, use a drill or screwdriver to make a hole in your wall big enough for the cable to fit through. Finally, feed the cable through the hole and tighten the screws to secure it in place.
Step 7: Connect Adapter wires accordingly
To connect the adapter wire to your Nest Hello device, find the port on the back of the device and match up the colors of the wire with the port. Once connected, tuck any excess wire into the hole next to it so it’s out of sight.

You can install the doorbell in any location of your choice, but we recommend that you install it right beside your door at a height that lets you clearly see the faces of the people who visit your house.
To mount your Nest Hello doorbell, first drill three holes into the wall using a 9 mm or 11/32 inch drill bit and then secure with screws and wall anchors (if necessary).
Step 9: Turn your power back on
Once you have completed all the steps in the installation guide, to turn your power back on, go to the fuse box or control panel in your home. If the Nest Hello is not on with blue light, check the connection and power adapter.
