How to delete activity on the Vivint app?
The Vivint home security app is quite effective at connecting consumers to their homes and giving them complete control over their smart systems. Additionally, it serves as a central app, managing and controlling all of the smart home’s devices. The Vivint app has complex functionality that enables some capabilities that are missing from even the most sophisticated home security applications. Vivint activities cannot be deleted or removed. However, to erase recordings, you must first uninstall the camera and then re-add it.
Step 1: Destroy the camera
Navigate to the camera settings on your Vivint app. On the home screen, click the menu icon in the bottom right corner. Click on devices in the smart home settings and enter your pin. Continue by clicking on cameras and then on the camera you wish to delete. To delete a camera, click delete and then confirm with a yes click.
Step 2: Reset the doorbell camera
Between 25 and 45 seconds, press and hold the doorbell camera button until the light rings red. Then, let the button alone and wait for the video doorbell to reset. This procedure might take up to two minutes. A green light would indicate that the reset was successful.
Step 3: Reinstall the device
On your home screen, click Add new device. After that, select the menu icon>devices> and enter your pin. Select the doorbell camera and click the connect tab. Once connected, the camera will automatically proclaim its presence.
How long does Vivint store camera clips?
Vivint stores camera clips for 30 days, after which they are automatically deleted. However, users can still review clips from up to four cameras for a total of 31 days. You can recover deleted Vivint videos as long as they have been stored in the Vivint Smart Drive. The Vivint Smart Drive is a cloud-based storage system that allows users to review recordings from any of their cameras.
Does Vivint continuously record?
Yes, Vivint does continuously record. In fact, all Vivint security systems come with a 1TB storage device called the Smart Drive. This allows you to have access to continuous recording, Smart Clips (which are short recordings of events that happened), and more.
Normally, when you delete a video from the Vivint cloud storage, it is gone for good. However, if there is an issue where the control panel loses connectivity with the camera, the motion-detected events may not get recorded. In this case, you would need to do a soft reset to reconnect the control panel to the camera.
